The Sole Representative Visa

How is a Sole Representative Visa necessary to seamlessly expand your business into the UK ?

Sole Representative is a UK visa category whose preliminary  purpose is to allow an individual (sole), representative of a foreign business, to enter the UK and establish and run a registered UK branch or fully owned subsidiary of the business in the UK.

The individual chosen by the foreign business to become its sole representative is allowed to set up and run the UK branch. The sole representative visa allows its holder to perform the following:

1. Work full-time in the UK for their employer.
2. Bring their family (‘dependants’) with them to the UK.
3. Extend their sole representative visa beyond the initial period granted and
4. Apply to settle in the UK after they have been here for Five [ 5 ] years.


The sole representative is not allowed to do any of the following once in the UK on a Sole Representative Visa:

1. Work for themselves or any other company.
2. Stay in the UK if the sole representative adjustment is ended by their employer.
3. Switch to this visa from any other visa category i.e. you cannot shift to the sole representative visa whilst temporarily residing in the UK as a visitor or receive public funds.
